【Topic】Exchange between TFG student ambassadors and Saint Peter’s Preparatory School

【Date】June 15, 2026

【Location】Taipei First Girls’ High School

【News report】

Founded in 1872, New Jersey-based Saint Peter’s Preparatory School is an establishment steeped in rich history and tradition. With diverse options in curriculum, they offer courses such as theology and multiple foreign languages. In June of 2026, Students from Saint Peter’s Prep visited our school, marking the first ever exchange between Saint Peter’s Prep and TFG. Overcoming cultural differences and geographical distance, this exchange sparked a hopeful beginning to a meaningful friendship between the two schools.

Before the start of the event, officials from the Ministry of Education provided both iconic Taiwanese gifts for the visiting students and valuable insight from past experiences in exchange for the student ambassadors. Next was the opening ceremony, starting with an opening speech from teachers from both schools. Principal Chen thanked the Saint Peter’s students and faculty for the visit, as well as introducing TFG and its ‘small yet beautiful’ defining qualities. Mr. Patrick McGovern delivered his speech in clearly enunciated Mandarin, earning the applause of TFG students and creating a lasting impression. TFG then gifted a doll wearing the iconic TFG uniform to Saint Peter’s Prep, and shared a group photo to commemorate the occasion.

Next, the presentation department of the TFG student ambassadors gave a comprehensive introduction, using fun questions to engage the audience and providing a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture both in and outside of school. Saint Peter’s Prep also made an exciting introduction of their school, completely in Mandarin. Their lively performance created a vibrant atmosphere that lit up the room.

Then came the activities planned by the academic affairs department and the school tours. The academic affairs department designed an exciting game where student ambassadors and Saint Peter’s Prep students worked together to pass a Mandarin phrase down a line until it reached the last person, who spoke the final answer aloud. The game fostered teamwork as students worked together to compete with opposing teams and passed down absurd phrases such as challenging tongue twisters. Meanwhile, other students enjoyed a tour of the TFG campus, with student ambassadors introducing the school’s architecture and school history.

Through this exchange, both schools became acquainted with each other’s school lives, broadening the horizons of all the students and leaving lasting memories.

Finally, the Saint Peter’s Preparatory School gifted the student ambassadors with the school’s unique memorabilia. After the closing ceremony, the two schools took a parting photo in front of the carriage porch before saying goodbye. This exchange was an exceptional opportunity for learning from one another and gaining new perspectives, as well as sparking friendships between the visiting students and the students from TFG. Hopefully, this exchange opens up opportunities for further exchanges in the future, creating a lasting bond between the two schools.
